Settling well: when to stop fighting
The best result is often the one you agree to. How we know when a deal is good enough, and how we make sure it holds.
Nobody hires a litigator to be told to settle. But knowing when to stop is the most valuable thing we do, and it is a judgement we put in writing before the pressure builds.
Set the number early
On day one we agree a walk-away figure with you and note it on the file. Later, when the other side moves, the decision is already made.
Count the whole cost
Fees, management time, the sleep you lose. A deal that costs a little more today is often cheaper than a win in a year.
Make it stick
A settlement is only as good as its drafting. Ours are signed on the day, with payment dates and consequences spelled out, so the dispute is actually over.
